It is with great honor that I introduce our inaugural NYVCA Hall of Fame Class! The class includes girls coaches Sally Kus, Kris Terrillion, and Patti Perone and boys coaches Joe Gillespie and Gary Tocke. Each of these coaching legends not only were successful on the court, but contributed to the growth of volleyball in their area and around the state. Sally Kus was the coach at Sweet Home High School. Her program was voted best in the 100 year history of the sport in 1996. Kris Terrillion coached for most of her career at Lafayette High School. Along with being named a Disney Teacher of the Year, Kris also was Big East Coach of the Year during a short stint at Syracuse. Patti Perone has been the varsity coach at Horseheads high school since the late 1980’s. Not only has Patti been a very successful coach, but has also has been the state coordinator for many years along with being on the AVCA board. Joe Gillespie started the highly successful Eden program in 1972. He founded the first boys volleyball club in New York in 1981. Gary Tocke coached at the Kenmore-Tonawanda School district for 45 years! He is also a former state coach of the year.

We are very proud of these coaches and what they have done for our sport. They will be honored at the boys and girls state tournament banquets. You can see their full bio and pictures on our virtual Hall of Fame on our website. Thank you  to our Hall of Fame committee, Tyler Carey, Mike Calvello, Robert Pierce, and Kathy McGeehan. What an outstanding first class!!
